"The dogs are the stars." - K.C. Bailey.

Big-hearted photographer K.C. Bailey visited our JFK facility to photograph some of our rescued dogs for her fabulous rotating photography show "Brooklyn Rescues," featuring photo dioramas of local dogs in need of homes. The show can be seen at Willie's, a super-cool hot dog joint in Park Slope (351 5th Ave). Read more about the project at www.kcbailey.com. Above, Bianca strikes a pose, it gets framed, and finally, it gets displayed along with 3 dioramas of some of our other pooches!

The adoption event at HappyPets was a record breaker for adoptions and supply sales for the supply-only pet store in Bay Ridge! We found great homes for 8 pooches, 13 kitties, 2 hairless rats, and 2 newts. Owners Tara and Jason also donated a huge batch of much-needed canned dog food to our rescue. Thanks, Happy Pets!

It was a great day for a reptile show in Hamburg... warm, sunny, and the admission line went all the way out to the driveway entrance! Doc checks over an alligator with a prospective adopter, an intimidating-looking caiman... who turns out to be pretty tolerant of handling (L-R: volunteers Jeremy, Matt, and Doc).

There was a super turnout at the White Plains show in April, we even had a record number of volunteers show up (L-R: Cindy, Theresa, Doc, Farrah & Jeremy)! This was Theresa's first reptile show - she usually works with the pups - and she finally got a chance to meet Skeletor, our handicapped water dragon, about whom she has written much on our MySpace blog. Susan made a new friend, too - "Dante" will be working with her as a Reptile Ambassador, teaching kids about iguanas!
4/22/07

Susan made a splash in her new hometown in PA with a visit to a local pre-school with a group of educational animals, including: Eddie the Iguana, Tuffy the Turtle, Louie the Veiled Chameleon, and Kling and Klang the Hissing Roaches. The kids each had a opportunity to pet Eddie, and got a big kick out of seeing Tuffy chase down and eat a "yucky" cricket!

Volunteer helpers Russ (L) and Ethan (R) were at the ready to help Susan set up the table bright and early at the Hamburg Reptile Expo. Susan finally got the red iguana she had been wishing for!
